COVID-19 Employer Resources

We are pleased to provide an array of COVID-19 resources to help you manage through the duration of this pandemic.  Outlined below are several components:

  • an independent testing solution through Quest Diagnostics,
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs),
  • COVID-19 testing and vaccine coverage information under the Municipal Benefits Services (MBS) medical plans, and
  • additional Coronavirus information.

Quest Diagnostics
Quest Diagnostics provides an independent solution to your employees and family members who are seeking a COVID-19 test, and when available, vaccinations.

For employees, or family members, who need a Coronavirus test, Quest Diagnostics provides an easy alternative to help them identify available locations, dates, and times for testing. The process begins with a brief questionnaire about symptoms to qualify the participant. Once qualified, the participant will be required to set up a personal MyQuest account. This account is necessary in order to receive your test results. Finally, the participant will be able to schedule a desired appointment date and time at a participating, drive-thru, Giant Eagle location. The test results will be available through the personal MyQuest account and can be shared with the employee’s primary care physician and/or employer, as desired.

COVID-19 tests are exclusively administered and managed by Quest Diagnostics, an independent provider, and is not sponsored by Municipal Benefits Services (MBS). Once you click on the link below, you will leave the MBS site.

Insurance Coverage
If your employees and their dependents are covered by one of the Municipal Benefits Services medical plans through either Highmark or UPMC, the Coronavirus testing and vaccines are covered as follows:

  • Highmark Members:
    • Coronavirus Testing: Temporary plan changes will continue to be in effect to waive the cost-sharing associated with physician-ordered diagnostic testing for the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This means copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance do not apply for this testing for all members, including High Deductible Health Plan members.
    • Coronavirus Vaccines: Members can get the COVID-19 vaccine for no charge.
  • UPMC Members:
    • Coronavirus Testing: Members being tested for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) will have all deductibles, copayments, or other cost-sharing waived when the testing is ordered by the member’s treating medical provider. This provision will also include those UPMC members covered under a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan. AnywhereCare (virtual visit) will also be available to all members with no cost share for any visit, not just those visits related to suspected Coronavirus.
    • Coronavirus Vaccine: The COVID-19 vaccine is covered as a preventive service at no cost to members.
