Cadillac Tax Projection

Municipal Benefits Services has created a tool specifically for municipalities to model the potential impact of the Affordable Care Act Cadillac Tax on their health plans. This interactive modeling tool enables municipalities to enter their current health care costs and their own medical inflation assumptions to accurately forecast if, or when, their current plan(s) could be subject to the 40% excise tax under the Affordable Care Act on or after 2020 (Original implementation date of 2018 was delayed by Congress in December 2015).

MBS is dedicated exclusively to servicing municipaliteis in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our mission is to be the “One Stop Benefits Shop” for municipalites providing high quality employee benefit plans at the absolute lowest cost, long-term rate stability, unmatched customer service, and expert educational opportunities to our members.

There is a web tool available to assist municipalities with projecting the if their current medical plans might be subject to the 40% “Cadillac” excise tax under the Affordable Care Act. This tool also was designed to assist smaller municipalities to determine whether or not they may be deemed an “Applicable Large Employer” under the Affordable Care Act and possibly subject to the Employer Shared Responsibility mandate provisions.
